Privacy & voting
Your opinion, without an account
We store your choice, the poll, the vote time, and an anonymous identifier derived from a random browser cookie. You do not need to provide your name or email to vote. The voting cookie lasts up to one year. Essential session cookies protect forms and admin sign-in.
One browser, one vote
Duplicate votes from the same browser identifier are rejected and requests are rate-limited to reduce abuse. Clearing cookies or using another browser can bypass this protection. Polls are entertainment, not scientific surveys.
Ideas and advertising inquiries
Poll ideas include two choices, an optional explanation and an optional email. Advertising inquiries include business and contact names, an email, an optional website and a message. Submissions are stored in our database for private administrator review and follow-up. Do not include sensitive information you do not want us to receive.
We may edit and publish approved poll choices and explanations, but do not publish contact emails or inquiry details. Ideas never publish automatically. Contact us to request correction or removal of your submission. We retain submissions while needed for review, follow-up and related administration. When email notifications are enabled, submitted form details are also emailed to sales@polloftheweek.com for review and follow-up. Emails include a link to the protected dashboard.
Internal statistics and sponsors
We count poll/archive page requests and served sponsor impressions and clicks, capped per session every 30 minutes. These are approximate internal counts, not audited unique-visitor or viewability figures. Signed-in admins, development traffic and obvious bots are excluded from new view/ad counts. The application stores expiring keyed hashes derived from IP addresses for abuse prevention, not raw IP addresses. Your hosting provider may retain separate access logs.
Advertisements are labeled. Clicking a sponsor opens another website with its own privacy practices. No AdSense or paid Google Ads tags are included.
Optional Google Analytics
If enabled on the live site, Google Analytics 4 loads only after you accept analytics. It measures page views, successful votes, sharing methods, copy-link actions and successful form submissions. We do not send names, emails, message contents, explanations or website fields to Google Analytics. URLs sent by our code exclude arbitrary query strings.
Google may process technical data such as device/browser information, IP addresses used for network communication and analytics cookie identifiers. Analytics cookies and your consent preference last up to six months. Rejecting analytics does not affect voting, sharing or form submissions. You can reopen Analytics preferences in the footer and withdraw consent. Withdrawing disables future collection, removes accessible analytics cookies and reloads the page; it does not erase data already collected by Google.
Analytics stays off on localhost, development environments, admin pages and for browsers that signal Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Browser storage blocking can prevent us from remembering your preference. Learn about Google’s privacy practices.
The archive
Initial example matchups are labeled “Sample results.” Their votes are illustrative and excluded from real participation statistics. Other polls reflect participating visitors’ choices.
